We had a very successful Renewable Energy Fair on Saturday. We had great attendance, incredible exhibitors, educational presentations, activities for kids and good food. Many visitors took action on reducing their carbon footprint. They

  • Looked at, compared and test drove an electric vehicle
  • Learned about how to use geothermal heat and heat pumps to reduce their heating costs.
  • Talked to companies that sell and lease solar power
  • Found out if their property is good for wind power
  • Charged their cell phone in a solar van full of solar interactive educational displays
  • Saw how a wind turbine works
  • Signed a petition
  • Saw what local environmental groups are doing to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and how you can become involved
  • Found out about buying solar panel from a solar farm or switching your electric provider to one that provides wind and solar energy.
  • Learned what they can do to put pressure on our elected officials to speed up our transition to renewable energy and away from fossil fuels.
  • Learned about a variety of ways they can better insulate their home to reduce energy costs
  • Found out how to invest in renewables and divest from fossil fuels
  • Learned about free energy audits and electric company rebates
  • Petted an alpaca, bounced in a bouncy house, created a dinosaur mask and made an environmental poster
  • Looked at a solar boat and found out how it was built
  • Learned how to compost to prevent landfill overflow and create good garden nutrition
  • Learned about a SUNY degree program in Environmental and Energy Technology
