SNYFGP joins National “OFF Fossil Fuels” campaign designed by Food and Water Watch

With Trump in the White House and congress controlled by friends of the fossil fuel industry and climate deniers, progress on climate change is not currently possible at the federal level. That means we need to fight even harder at the local level if we want to push for an immediate transition to clean energy. That’s why Food & Water Action Fund has launched the OFF Fossil Fuels campaign.

The campaign involves getting elected officials to sign a pledge to work against fossil fuels and for 100% renewables by 2035. We will begin by targeting Congressman Faso and Tonko and then will take on Town and County officials as members volunteer.

Food and Water Watch is offering sophisticated technological support to help us contact people effectively through phone, texts and emails.

Watch the video of the live-streamed launch of the Off Fossil Fuels Campaign. (You have to wait a few minutes before the video starts.)

We forgot to take a picture of our SNYFGP group, so above is another group who participated in the launch.

Eight SNYFGP  members joined dozens of others to lobby NY state senators and assembly members to ask them to support a bill to divest the NY State Pension fund from the top 200 Fossil Fuel companies. This was part of Global Divestment Mobilization week. Read an article about this divestment lobby day.
