Kinder Morgan announced today that it has rescheduled the Northeast Energy Direct (NED) open house for Rensselaer County. The event, which was previously moved from New Lebanon to Schodack and then postponed due to weather, is currently scheduled for Monday, April 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Green Meadow Elementary School in Schodack (Castleton-on-Hudson).
These open houses are meant to sell the proposal to local residents and give them a chance to ask direct questions to Kinder Morgan representatives, though many have been “unimpressed” by the answers they have received, as documented in articles like this.
Representatives of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which has federal approval power over the project, are also expected to be in attendance.
The April 13th date is part of a series of events scheduled for the month under the banner of NED West Open House Dates, which will cover towns West of Rensselaer County and into Pennsylvania. A complete schedule of all eight events in that series is available here (PDF).
