On Thursday, February 5th, Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP) hosted a community forum in Stephentown that drew 180 concerned residents from around the area and beyond.
The large crowd filled the Stephentown Fire Hall, which was secured on short notice the day before once interest in the event grew beyond the space available at Stephentown Town Hall, the forum’s originally planned location.
Attendees got the opportunity to voice their concerns about Kinder Morgan/Tennessee Gas Pipeline’s Northeast Energy Direct (NED) project and were then shown a half-hour PowerPoint presentation about its potential risks, including threats to air and water quality, landowner rights and public safety. An open question and answer session followed.
SNYFGP wishes to thank the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department for its consideration, as well as those who attended the forum and shared their views. Information about future forums is forthcoming, as are the answers to questions submitted in writing to SNYFGP at the event.
Please stay tuned.
